An Award Presentation Ceremony For 'Write. To Love The World'
EDFLOW and Food Angel Joined hands to promote food waste reduction through the power of words.
With excellent command of English and thorough understanding of social phenomenon, 48 students across the territory were commended with attractive prizes and certificates during the first award presentation ceremony for the writing-for-charity campaign 'Write. To Love The World', which was held by EDFLOW Education and co-hosted by Food Angel, a charity group providing food for the undernourished.
Patrick Sir, the pioneer of the whole event, explained the rationale behind, "Through the 100-word story competition, the younger generation demonstrates their identity as global citizens who are aware of social issues. It is my sincere hope that 'Write. To Love The World' can someday turn into a globally recognized event, encouraging people all over the world to be aware of the issues, concerns and worries shared by every global citizen."
The ceremony was successfully held at Park Central on 24 August 2013. The day was accompanied by sounds of merriment from the game sessions judged by acclaimed English tutors Sam Ng and Larry Lo, joined by popular artists including Kimmy Kwan, Leung Ka Ki, Michelle Wai and Carlos Chan. Officiating in the ceremony, Patrick Sir congratulated the awardees with experienced educationists Alex Wong and Brenda Wong. Gold, Silver and Bronze Winners from three age groups, whose exceptional creativity won the hearts of the trio judging panel, also received attractive prizes offered by various sponsors. While all proceeds from the sale of the book displaying all the outstanding stories went to charity, the ceremony was rounded off with cheer and care.
The 100-word story contest kicked off in June and called on Hong Kong students to submit creative entries that illustrate the severity of food waste. Despite the fact that the campaign was held for the first time in a short span of time, the response was overwhelming, with inspiring and highly creative entries contributed by students. Through this large-scale writing competition, our students got the chance to have their knowledge incorporated into daily lives as junior global citizens.
